This book is not for the faint at heart or overly religious Christian. The stories within this will take you through several emotions. Whatever, the emotions you experience understand that the journey some people took in life may have been rough and hard. However, we all have a journey and you may not have taken their specific journey, but you still have one that will develop your testimony.
These following stories are what made Romel’s prison time a little easier.
There was one particular inmate, Knob, who didn’t like Century C.I. and tried on many occasions to be transferred to another facility. Knob, devised a plan that he knew would work.
One day he walked out the dorm naked with nothing on but a t-shirt wrapped around his head like a turban and a bible in his hand. The crazy thing about his bible was it was written in Spanish. Knob, didn’t speak a lick of Spanish.
He walked in the middle of the compound and sat down Indian style, pretending to read the bible. Knob began to speak in a language no one understood. While he was still seated Indian style, 20 officers began to rush toward him to see what the problem was.
As the officers got closer to Knob, he got on all fours and began to bark at the officers and foam out the mouth. The look on the officers’ faces was priceless because they were very confused and didn’t know what they should do.
All the inmates found Knob’s act extremely hilarious because they all knew it was a game for him to be transferred.
This act resulted in him getting transferred; however, he was gassed and beat up by the officers just because they felt like it.
This is the type of content you will find in Lifting the Stones. Readers will read of Romel’s tragic beginning, but they will also learn where his hope and faith lies.

Author Sheryl Allen, once again takes her readers on a journey that is both uplifting and emotional stirring. Her insight into worlds many of us would never come to know is both intriguing and unnerving at times but always captivating. The read was quick, steady and one I was not ready to see end. I found myself pulled into each chapter and longing for more once I finished. This is definitely a must read to those who fell in love with her first book, “Walking Through Your Pain.” I know that there is more to be heard from this creative author whose goal is to teach lessons and dig deep into the reader’s subconscious and unearth their hidden strengths.
